Want to increase the fullness of your lips? Lip fillers can add a touch of natural-looking plumpness with minimal downtime and maintenance. Learn everything you need to know about lip fillers below.
Lip Fillers Create a More Youthful Look
Lip enhancement can plump up thin lips, enhance the shape, and create more symmetry in a way that’s aesthetically pleasing. The right amount can re-volumize the lips to create a more youthful look that can also enhance your other facial features too.
They’re Injected with a Fine Needle or Cannula
Fine needles or cannulas are used to make small injections in the lips. A small amount of filler is used to outline the border to provide more shape before it’s placed into the deep and superficial layers of the lips to achieve the desired look.
Fillers are Safe
The lip fillers we use are 100% safe and both FDA and Health Canada approved. We use only the highest quality fillers on the market from the most reputable professional brands in the medical aesthetic industry. Our treatment rooms and equipment are properly sterilized before and after each patient to ensure complete safety at all times.
There’s More than Just One Type
One of the most popular filler injections is hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally produced by the body. This type of injection can be used on the lips and even other areas of the body to restore volume and reverse the effects of aging. At the Ottawa Vein & Cosmetic Medical Clinic, we carry a number of different hyaluronic acid products from the leading brands, which allow us to create a tailored treatment plan just for you based on your unique lip structure and desired goals.
It All Starts with a Consultation
Before you undergo any treatment, you will first have a consultation to discuss your objectives and determine if you are a suitable candidate. During the consultation, Dr. Stojanovic will also determine the most suitable lip filler formula and technique for your desired results. Then during your treatment, she will carefully apply the right amount to the target areas so that your lips look naturally full and supple. After the procedure, Dr. Stojanovic will provide you with any aftercare recommendations and advice on how to maintain the results over time.
It’s Quick and Simple
Getting your lips filled is a very quick process. In 30 minutes or less, you can get fuller, plumper looking lips. Most fillers will produce immediate results, but it will typically take 2 to 4 weeks for the filler to settle and produce the final look.
The procedure is relatively painless. There may be a slight pinching sensation at the injection site, but this should only last for a few seconds. A topical anesthetic is often applied to the lips before the treatment to help minimize discomfort, and some fillers will even contain an anesthetic in the ingredients.
There’s Minimal Downtime
Lip fillers come with the risk of certain side effects. Most patients will experience some minor swelling after the procedure, and some may even experience minimal bruising and redness post-injection, but these symptoms will quickly reside. Once the treatment is complete you are free to resume your normal daily activities. To maintain the integrity of the filler, it is recommended to avoid touching your lips, applying lipstick and drinking alcoholic beverages for 48 hours after treatment to prevent further bruising, lumpiness or swelling.
It’s Long Lasting
A single treatment can last up to nine months, but our premium fillers can yield results for up to two years. For best results, top-up treatments can be performed at specific intervals to keep your lips looking full for longer.
The Results are Entirely Up to You
Lip fillers can be applied so that there is a gradual result that builds over time. This ensures the results look more natural. If you prefer to have immediate results after your first treatment, we can adjust the treatment to create a more dramatic change.
Lip Fillers are Affordable
You don’t have to be a celebrity to afford them. Lip fillers cost between $750 to $1000, which is much more affordable than surgical procedures.
